Library of Things
With an ever-growing collection of diverse products, the goal of the Library of Things is to foster a community in St. Gallen. Sharing products rather than owning them lays a foundation for our more sustainable future.
In SQUARE exciting things are happening. Not only did it finally open its doors this semester and with it the ChangeHub too. But there is one last empty room in SQUARE, called the Discovery Grid. An amazing shop with local products will eventually fill out this space. To embody the spirit of SQUARE, we want to introduce the library of things:
With the opening of SQUARE next to the University of St. Gallen, the Library of Things is also launched. Our mission is to create economic, as well as environmental sustainability by providing access to materials for everyone. We see ourselves not only as a place where people come to borrow, but also as a centre of discovery, creativity, encouragement and communication.
With an ever-growing collection of diverse products, the goal is to foster a community in St. Gallen. Sharing products rather than owning them lays a foundation for our more sustainable future.
Our idea and goal of the Library of Things in the Square was to open and make this "activity" and place of gathering attractive, for students and citizens alike. Currently, students can easily move around in their own "bubble", which hardly offers any contact with St. Gallen citizens. The new building at the university should also serve to enable this contact and exchange between the groups. To burst the bubble, we thought it would be a good idea to start the Library of Things with the goal of forming a cross-generational community.
