HappyHoodie

Project HappyHoodie tackles the problem of a linear economy of clothes at HSG while providing a benefit both for people receiving the hoodie as well as for people giving the hoodie.

Project HappyHoodie tackles the problem of a linear economy of clothes at HSG while providing a benefit both for people receiving the hoodie as well as for people giving the hoodie.

At HSG we have more than 120 clubs: clubs for people interested in psychology, in consulting, in partying, learning new languages, surfing and many, many more. Despite this variety they all have something in common: They all give the opportunity to their members to buy a club hoodie. An opportunity which is often taken.

Every year hundreds of hoodies are thus ordered but after the academic year comes to an end so does the usage of these hoodies in most cases. Most of them are just forgotten in a wardrobe while at the same time new hoodies are ordered for new members. This linear economy creates a huge amount of wasted material that could be reused.

With project HappyHoodie, ChangeHub want to tackle this problem and give old hoodies a new life. The plan is to create a hoodie event in the beginning of each semester. Former members can bring their hoodies and receive a part of the original hoodie price back. New members on the other hand can enjoy their new hoodie at a lower price while knowing they have done some good for the environment.

The project has officially been launched in September 2022. After a research phase, the clubs will be informed and introduced to this new procedure in April 2023 in order to organize this event in September 2023 for the first time!
